Stuart Norman Ford passed away Monday, July 11 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ford was the youngest of two children, born in Montreal, Quebec. The family lived in Nova Scotia for a few years before settling in Toronto. He graduated from the Ontario College of Art and after graduation, he took a road trip with two other OCA graduates to Mexico and explored the country’s many states. It was at this time his love of Mexico deepened. Upon his return to Toronto, he became art director for Disney Canada, a job he held for over 40 years.

Ford also had a love of airplanes and cars, was an avid reader and knowledgeable on many subjects.

Ford retired in 1998 and decided to relocate to Ajijic. He loved the Lakeside region and spent the remaining years of his life traveling Mexico and other countries with friends and family.

Ford is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Horan, who he met and fell in love with a year after moving to Ajijic. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Heather Ford, Rosemary Ford, Jill Macintosh (Duncan), Sara Macdonald (Patrick) and MaryJane Macdonald (Angie); his two granddaughters, Maggie and Katie Macintosh; and his grandson Shawn Forrest. He will also be missed by his brother Bill (Mary), his nephews Ron and Douglas and by the Horan step-family and his many friends in Mexico, Canada and the United States.

His life was celebrated by friends and family in Ajijic on July 14.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.
