Shark stuffed with cocaine is not a haute cuisine dish for addicts

In one of the most bizzare drug hauls ever reported, the Mexican Navy has discovered more than a ton of cocaine stuffed inside 20 shark carcasses.

The shipment was apparently on its way to Tonala, Jalisco.

Sniffer dogs and X-ray machines helped uncover the white powder on Tuesday in the Gulf coast port of Progreso, Yucatan.
In the face of increased efforts to crack down on drug smuggling, traffickers are resorting to increasingly creative methods for transporting illegal substances. These have included concealing drugs in sealed beer cans, furniture and even religious statues.
On the same day as they found the cocaine-laden sharks, Mexican authorities invited reporters to view one of the largest methamphetamine laboratories ever discovered. The lab in Sinaloa had the potential to produce 40 tons of methamphetamine, with a street value of around 1.4 billion dollars, which equates to about 309 million individual doses.
