Just one month after moving into city hall, the Chapala government is taking legal action after discovering signs of serious irregularities, presumably committed by the previous administration.
According to a press release issued last week, the city hall legal department has lodged a criminal complaint against responsible parties who worked in the 2007-2009 government of Gerardo Degollado in relation to unjustified expenditures detected in several federally-funded programs. The new government claims that outgoing officials failed to leave behind proper documentation to explain more than 7.6 million pesos spent on three programs bankrolled by Sedesol, the federal government’s social development ministry.
