Eco-conscious New Year’s resolutions

Share

Start 2010 off right by leaning toward ecologically correct habits this year.

Change your light bulbs for incandescent lights; the savings in electricity is 80 percent. Save water by shutting off the shower while you lather up or brush your teeth, don’t water the plants in mid-day and don’t wash patios, garages or autos with a running hose. Have a plumber check for leaks. Separate your garbage, bring bags when you buy your groceries, buy as few disposable products as possible (beer and soda can still be bought in returnable bottles at many small stores). Install a solar water heater. In hot weather, open windows and avoid using air conditioners. Bicycle when possible to get around. Take the bus or train instead of using your car when you go on vacation. Plant at least one tree this year.
