Dengue fever will be the biggest health headache for state authorities in 2010, Jalisco Health Secretary Alfonso Petersen has predicted.

A debate is raging as to the effectiveness of anti-dengue bracelets that are being sold at stands around the city.

Some 60 expatriate residents of Ajijic, Chapala and Jocotepec had the chance to learn all about the Centro Medico Puerta de Hierro Sur at an open house held last weekend at the recently opened facility located on Avenidas Lopez Mateos Sur in Guadalajara.

Dr. Mariana Solorzano Flores learned her first lessons about medicine at the knee of her physician father. She chose to move away from his successful Guadalajara practice to bring a fresh perspective on medicine and nutrition to people at lakeside. Solorzano took some time from her busy schedule (she’s also studying for a Master’s Degree in Biological Medicine and Nutrition) to talk to Jeanne Chaussee about helping people to stay well.
