Two fundraising projects are coming up on the horizon for the RISE (Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza) Children’s Shelter in Puerto Vallarta.
The second in a unique monthly series of champagne brunches at featured premier properties will be held at the amazing Casa Karma (right next to El Set and LindoMar) on Saturday, January 9. Tickets cost 350 pesos each and will be available for limited seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. from Friday, December 11 at Daiquiri Dick’s, by calling Casa Tigre at 222-9081, or by contacting Chris at 221-5451 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Planning is also well advanced for the eighth RISE for Hope party, or “Carnival Fair,” to be held on the grounds of the American School.
This is a gourmet’s delight, as some of Vallarta’s leading restaurants will tempt fair goers with a few of their trademark dishes.
As well as colorful local entertainment, there will be a raffle with top prizes. The first prize is two-round trip tickets on either Air Alaska or Horizon Air, valid for flights in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The tickets are unrestricted as there are no blackout times. Tickets cost 20 pesos each (or three for 50 pesos) ahead of the event, and one doesn’t have to be present to win.
Rounds of golf at local courses, stays in luxury hotels, catered dinner parties and a flat-screen television are some of the items on offer in a live auction scheduled mid-evening.
Ticket price for this stellar event is 450 pesos per person, and patron tables of ten are available for 8,500 pesos per table. Patron tables will have priority seating, an earlier entrance time, waiter service for drinks and other perks.
RISE is a non-profit shelter for babies and children under the age of 14. Some of the children are orphans but most come from unbearable situations, having been abused, neglected, or simply abandoned.
