LCS Learning
The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) Learning Seminars continue on Tuesday, December 15, noon in the Sala. Fred Harland will moderate and his guest speaker (via the Internet) will be journalist and author, Misha Glenny, whose subject will be “Global Crime Networks.”
Glenny spent several years in a courageous investigation of organized crime networks worldwide and authored the best seller “McMafia.” He estimates that global crime now accounts for about 15 percent of the world’s economy.
All LCS members are invited to experience the presentation and join in the usually lively discussion that follows.
The will be a break in the LCS Learning Seminar series for the holiday season. The next seminar after the one on December 15 will be on January 12.
Niños y Jovenes
Sue Campbell wants to thank all those who have been making contributions on behalf of the residents at the Casa de Niños y Jovenes. One of the contributors has been Anne Dyer, who has set up her Candy Box project. The boxes are put together and then sold at the local tianguis and throughout Ajijic for 30 pesos each or four for 100 pesos, with the proceeds going to the food fund for the Casa de Niños y Jovenes children’s shelter. There was also a wonderful evening at the home of Don and Valerie Edwards featuring the Tall Boys Band, with those attending generously donating to the cause.
The 71 Christmas boxes have been distributed to those who will fill them and volunteers are now busy collecting the beautifully wrapped and wonderful gifts ready for distribution at the Christmas posada on Sunday, December 20, 2 p.m. at the shelter.
If anyone would like to help by contributing a dessert to go with the main meal being supplied by an anonymous donor, please contact Eileen Maurin either at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or at (387) 761-0384.

Outreach
St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Outreach committee sends heartfelt thanks to all the church volunteers and the many non-church volunteers who helped with the setup as well as the day of the Regalorama Bazaar on December 5. More thanks to those who baked goodies and made jams and jellies. The Regalorama was a great success thanks to so many hardworking people. Remember, all proceeds from the sale go to local Mexican charities. The committee is already thinking about next year.
