A merry Mexpat posada ends year on sunny high

“Suckers!” you could be forgiven for thinking about those from cold climes trudging through the ice, snow and general gloom to attend their Christmas party.

altShorts, T-shirts, sunglasses, cold Coronas and carne asada were the order of the day for Guadalajara expats at the Mexpat Christmas posada on a blazing Sunday afternoon in December.

Eighty adults, 50 children and three piñatas turned up to Andy Kieffer’s spacious house in Colonia Americana. Thankfully, only the piñatas were damaged, although there were probably some sore heads the morning after.

The success of the event highlighted the continued importance of Mexpat as a cultural support group and networking base for foreigners living in Guadalajara.
