Animal aid for Haiti
A donation center opened last weekend for those wanting to donate food, medicine and other aid to the pets and animals of Haiti that have also suffered in the devastating earthquake and roam the streets in search of food. Tons of aid poured in and is already on its way to Haiti. However, the president of the Regional Association of Veterinarians, Hector Hernandez, explained that additional aid that didn’t make the shipment will be given to pets in need in this region of Mexico.
Hernandez added that an event to help mistreated pets will be held on February 13 and 14 at the Estadio Tres de Marzo in Zapopan.

Worth a visit
Over 200 years old, the Temple of Mexicaltzingo is being restored by the Cultural Heritage Department of the Secretary of Culture. With the last restoration occurring some 30 years ago, it’s estimated that the current project will allow the exterior of the building to last another 50 years. Culture officials say the 1.5-million-peso restoration is necessary to maintain the cornices that are at risk of collapse and stop the spread of the parasitic plant growing over the church.
The church is located at the corner of Mexicaltzingo and Colon, behind the Teatro Diana.
