Dear Sir,

Your readers might be interested to know that the United States has been restricting the duration of driver's licenses since just after 9/11.

The equivalent of Mexico's FM3 is the B2 Visa issued for a maximum of 180 days when one must leave the country for 183 days.  The driver's license is issued for the same length of time as the B2 entrant is allowed to remain in the U.S.

The U.S. is happy to allow foreigners to purchase properties and pay taxes, but they can only stay 6-months.  Mexico is far more friendly towards us!
