Some revisions have been made to the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra’s winter season program since last week’s story. Most significantly, the Gilbert and Sullivan opera “Pirates of Penzance” has been cancelled and replaced with a performance of Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony.” Here is the latest schedule. (The JPO notes that it may still be subject to further revisions.) All performances are held at the Degollado Theater in downtown Guadalajara, unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL PROGRAM
Joaquín Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez” and Tchaikovsky’s “4th Symphony.” Héctor Guzmán conducts, Enrique Florez plays guitar in this concert to benefit retiring JPO players.
Sunday, October 19, 12:30 p.m.  Tickets 50-200 pesos.

PROGRAM 1
“Danzas Polovetsianas” by Borodín and selections from Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.” Hector Guzman conducts. Also featuring the Jalisco State Choir, directed by Sergio Hernandez. Alma Rocio Jiménez, soprano Luis Ignacio Gonzalez, baritone.
Friday, October 24, 8:30 p.m. (in the theater) and Sunday, October 26 in Plaza Fundadores, behind the Degollado Theater, free of charge. Tickets (for Degollado): 50-200 pesos.
PROGRAM 2
Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Program also features a homage to Flavio Becerra on his 40-year career. Hector Guzman, conducts. Also featuring the Jalisco State Choir, directed by Sergio Hernandez.
Thursday, October 30, 8:30 p.m. and Friday, October 31, 8:30 p.m. Tickets 80-240 pesos.

PROGRAM 3
Music and arias from Puccini’s Le Villi, Manon Lescaut, La Bohéme, Gianni Schicchi, Edgar y Turandot.
Leonardo Gasparini conducts. Elizabeth Mata and Celia Gomez, sopranos, Allan Glassman, tenor and Massimiliano Vallegi, baritone.
Friday, November 7, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 9, 12:30 p.m. Tickets 80-240 pesos.

PROGRAM 4
Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony.”
Michael Meissner conducts. Irasema Terrazas, soprano, Carla Lopez-Speziale, mezzosoprano, Oscar de la Torre, tenor, Armando Gama, baritone.
Friday, November 14, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 16, 12:30 p.m. Tickets 80-240 pesos.

PROGRAM 5
Scenes from the operas “I Pagliacci,” “Cavalleria Rusticana,” “Aida” and “Carmen.”  Héctor Guzmán conducts. Also featuring the Jalisco State Choir, directed by Sergio Hernandez. Mónica Chávez, soprano, Belem Rodríguez, mezzosoprano, Néstor López, tenor, Guillermo Ruiz, baritone.
Friday, November 28, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 30, 6 p.m. Tickets 80-240 pesos.

SPECIAL PROGRAM
Benefit concert for the Family Development Agency (DIF). Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite.” Raul Garcia conducts.
Friday, December 5, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 7, 12:30 p.m. 100-220 pesos.

PROGRAM 6
Christmas concert, featuring carols. Hector Guzman conducts.
Wednesday, December 10, 8:30 p.m. and Thursday, December 11, 8:30 p.m. 50-200 pesos.
