Ajijic resident Frank Edwards died August 3 while recuperating from heart surgery at a local nursing home. He was 81 years old.

Frank EdwardsEdwards was born June 10, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of the United States Navy Reserve.

He received his Bachelor’s degree from Ursinus College in Pennsylvania and his Master’s degree from the University of Texas in Dallas, Texas. Edwards worked for IBM for 31 years, retiring in 1992. He then moved to Florida where he met his wife Mary, who resides in Ajijic.

The Edwardses moved to Ajijic in 1999 and soon were involved in Lakeside community life. Frank Edwards often participated at the Lakeside Little Theatre, particularly in the community theater’s musical presentations. He was a volunteer at the Lake Chapala Society and belonged to the computer club there. He was interested in photography and became expert at the manipulation of digital photographs. He was a member of Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church in Riberas del Pilar.

Besides his wife, Mary Edwards, Frank is survived by a son, Scott Edwards of Monrovia, California, and five daughters: Kathryn Fucci of Greenville, Delaware; Nancy Edwards of Elkton, Maryland; Elizabeth Edwards Harris of Los Angeles, California; Missy Gale of Colleyville, Texas and Alison May of Oakland, California.

He leaves 12 grandchildren.

Memorial services are pending and will be announced later in the month.
