LLT summerPerformances of Lakeside Little Theatre’s (LLT) “Summer Studio 2008” are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 5 at 3 p.m. This will be a fun representation of about ten different scenes from ten different plays, including “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” “Zoo Story,” “Lettuce and Lovage,” “The Prisoner of Second Avenue” and several more theater favorites. More than 20 actors will appear in these scenes.The Cast includes Denae Dobko, Meagan Taylor, Keith Scott, Terry Pitzner, Randi Watkins, Sally Jo Bartlett, Diana Rowland, Georgette Richmond, Jayme Littlejohn, Russell Mack, Catherine Huff, Zane Pumiglia, Gloria Harrison, Harry Walker, Jim Collums, Dafne Quintero, Jane Isbell, Liz White, Judy McKinnon, Suzanne Forrest, Natalia Velazquez, Kelea Browne, Liliana Barker, Ashley Taylor, Jeritza McCarter and Betty Lloyd Robinson. Supporting staff are facilitator Roseann Wilshere, assisted by Bob Coull; stage manager Graham Miller; and props director Trish Conner, assisted by Barbara Ann Martindale. The costumes are by Barbara Clippinger, the lighting by Zane Pumiglia and Rubin Boatman and the sound by Emma Bergh-Apton. Since there are only four performances of this year’s summer studio, LLT suggests that you get your tickets early. The price is only 50 pesos and they are being sold in advance at Ajijic Real Estate, Morelos 4 (extension of Colon) in Ajijic. During the run of the show, the box office will be open one hour before curtain time. The Patio Bar will also be open at that time. Lakeside Little Theatre is located just off Allen W. Lloyd Drive, next to the Loyola Institute campus in San Antonio Tlayacapan (turn toward the mountain at the traffic light). LLT season ticketsSeason tickets for Lakeside Little Theatre’s (LLT) 2008-2009 season — for both renewals and new patrons — will be on sale Tuesday and Wednesday, September 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the LLT lobby. Season tickets are 700 pesos for reserved seats for six plays. Tickets for individual plays are 125 pesos each per person. For more information contact Paula McTavish at (376) 766-0954. The season line up is as follows: “Office Hours,” will hit the boards September 27 to October 5. “Office Hours” was written by Norm Foster and will be directed by Jayme Littlejohn. “The Hollow” to run from October 31 to November 9 was written by Agatha Christie and will be directed by Roseann Wilshere. Please note that there will be no performance on Saturday, November 1. “Twelve Angry Jurors,” runs December 6 to December 14. The play was adapted from Reginald Rose’s “Twelve Angry Men” and will be directed by Norma Lyerly. “Incorruptible,” by Michael Hollinger and directed by Larry King is scheduled for January 17 to January 25. The theater’s annual musical presentation will be “Kiss Me Kate,” running February 28 to March 10. The play is the musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” directed by Betty Lloyd Robinson, music direction by Richard and Eleanor Stromberg and choreographed by Alexis Hoff. “Looking” by Norm Foster runs from April 4 to April 12. Bob Coull will direct. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. (sharp) and matinees at 3 p.m. A flautistJoyce Lawrence, an oboist who has put together a small chamber orchestra here, is looking for an advanced amateur flautist to join the music ensemble for regular music sessions in Ajijic. The Golden Strings organization needs a flautist for a concert scheduled for July 19. Conact Lawrence at 766-1804. Back in townDaniel Cordero, a founding member of the popular Psychostasia band is back in town for a few gigs every other Friday at Vicky’s Hideaway, west of Ajijic on the Carretera. His next appearance is Friday, July 4, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cordero will be playing and singing his own special mix of romantic covers and original tunes. Youngsters

Chaussee. This will be a new experience for some of the young students, as they have never played for such a large audience before. The concert is free for everyone; but there will be a donation box out for those who would like to donate a suggested 30 pesos (or more) for this wonderful program for young Guadalajara musicians. CASAThe theme for the Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic (CASA) at their June meeting was “brunch.”

In the “Sweet Breads or Muffins” category, CASA president Judy Whitford won fist place for her “Amish Friendship Bread.” Pat Carroll took second place for his “Morning Glory Muffins” and Linda Brown took the third slot for her “Overnight Walnut Ring.” After each entrée is tasted by the full membership, a vote is taken to the People’s Choice awards. The award for category I went to Alice Hutson for the “Tortilla Espanola con Aioli Ajo.” There was a tie in the second category between Kenee Campo winning for her “Currant Spice Bread” and Pat Carrol for his “Morning Glory Muffins.” CASA meets once a month to bring those people together who love to cook and enjoy expanding their culinary expertise with learning new methods, recipes and everything about food. Little dancersThe Juvenile and Infantile Folkloric Ballet, sponsored by the Jalisco’s Secretary of Culture, will perform Saturday, June 28, 1 p.m. at the Gonzalez Gallo Cultural Center (former train station) at Gonzalez Gallo 1500 in Chapala .
