Dear Sir,

I am a regular subscriber of the Guadalajara Reporter, and appreciate your newspaper periodically exploring controversial issues in an intelligent way.  Therefore, it was with shock and dismay that I read Jeanne Chaussee’s column, Trash Nazis. What really transpired in the encounter she described is immaterial. What is clear is that she is using your newspaper as a bully pulpit to purge a personal grievance.  Both her acrimonious tone and choice of language are offensive and serve no newsworthy purpose. In my opinion, this bitter article depreciates the fine reputation of your newspaper.  I believe you owe an apology not only to the recipient of her venom, but to your loyal readers as well.  Additionally, having clean streets hardly makes Ajijic a “Fort Lauderdale.”  Your paper should support, and not castigate the various efforts being made to improve the local environment for all Lakeside residents.
