My husband I are longtime visitors to lakeside and Jocotepec. We often have heard negative comments about the local police and have been guilty ourselves at times. As we were packing our car to leave Mexico, we noticed that we did not have the importation sticker on the windshield. We knew we would be asked for it at the federal road stops en route.  So I went to the police station in Jocotepec, where the chief and an officer went out of their way to be of assistance. Since my Spanish is very poor, they obtained a translator for me. She helped me through the reams of paperwork to get the necessary document.
In the future we will not be so quick to judge.
