Dear Sir,
Following Allyn Hunt's excellent column January 27 re: "medical collisions," I checked with my Canadian doctor. Sure enough, he confirmed my suspicion that for women taking replacement hormone therapy "... the cutochrome p450 pathway of metabolism is used to process grapefruit juice and many medications share the same pathway." He suggested that those of us who consume grapefruit/grapefruit juice in the morning should adjust daily hormone ingestion to evenings. Barb Hess Ajijic |
