Dear Sir, I read the latest changes regarding requirements for the Mexican Citizenship.
I am a resident here for 4 years and I planned to apply for the Mexican Citizenship after 5 years with FM3.
Now the requirement is 5 years residence with FM2. I will not wait another 6 years and after that probably another 5 years to obtain Mexican documentation. Most of the foreigners are too old to wait all these years. I always received only wrong information starting with the Mexican Consulate in San Diego and here in Ajijic.
The FM3 documentation is useless and it is only a tourist visa double price than the tourist visa at the airports for $ 30.00 for 6 months residence.
As an FM3 holder I am classified as a "Visitante no inmigrante-rentista".
Technically I can be shipped out any time because I am not a resident of Mexico. I will readjust accordingly. I will not purchase a larger home in this area or a Mexican produced car in Guadalajara. I will be careful with purchases and always think that I am only a visitor and not a resident.
My conversation in the Spanish language is good, however I will not be able to apply for residence papers here. It is a pity because I do like Mexico.
E. Sirany.
