Eager to see a locally enacted ritual during my visit to Ajijic, my host and I drove to the center of town, and we joined the throngs of people gathered to witness this annual ritual that would culminate on Easter morning. |

History teaches that difficult times produce bizarre behavior. The crazed conduct by a series of Mexican presidents during the 1970s-1990s economic crashes is an example. Another, according to polls: What is now seen by a great many United States citizens as the unhinged conduct of the Bush-Cheney White House, and a feckless Congress. |

As David Suzuki once said, we are driving 150 mph into a concrete wall, yet we're arguing who gets to sit in the front. I find it disturbing that Vallarta and Guadalajara havethis amazing climate with so much sun, yet I can't breathe clean air. |
