President Bush At Odds With Texas In Death Row Judgment

'The Mexican government mounted a legal challenge on behalf of Jose Ernesto Medellin, a Mexican citizen, after he was sentenced to death in Texas for the rape and murder of two teenage girls.

Jose Ernesto Medellin is hardly Mexico's most beloved son. His crimes were heinous and his connection to his homeland is tenuous. Nevertheless, the Mexican government has gone to the mat to defend Medellin and 50 other Mexican citizens sitting on death row in the United States. This week they had their day in court.

Democrats Abroad is launching a global primary election for United States presidential candidates to take place between February 5 and February 12, 2008. The Mexico vote is scheduled for February 5.
