If you’ve never been to the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca but want
to experience its color and folklore then head over to the Foro de Arte
y Cultura in Guadalajara on Saturday evening.
There’s more to the Festival Cultural de Mayo than grand orchestral
works, including some great offerings in Guadalajara’s historic
churches (free) and a cycle of chamber music concerts (tickets cost 50
pesos).
Among the finest exhibits at the Museo Arte de Zapopan (MAZ) this
spring is “Opera de Papel,” exhibiting the collected works of French
artist Bruno Fourure, who invokes the light-hearted spirit of a Rogers
and Hammerstein operetta rather than the heavy drama of Wagner or
Puccini.
