With a cool swagger, an endless supply of one liners and a new and improved invisible (yes, invisible) Aston Martin, Pierce Brosnan delivers a classic blast of James Bond in his third 007 flick, "Die Another Day." Number 20 of the Bond series packs the regular punch of eye-popping stunts (including an almost farcical Brosnan parasail-surfing across snow-capped Iceland), glossy, money-oozing backdrops and the kind of diabolical evildoers we love to hate, all delicious requirements for a Bond adventure. |

"Frida" is a provocative, although somewhat cursory, two-hour biography of sexually charged surrealist painter and Mexican cultural icon Frida Kahlo (Salma Hayek). Directed by Julie Taymor, best known for her musical direction of Broadway's "The Lion King," and star-studded with both Mexican and American favorites (Margarita Sanz as Leon Trotsky's wife and Ashley Judd as Tina Modetti), the film delves into the erotic yet perilous life of the nonconforming, uni-brow-bearing Kahlo. The film focuses on Kahlo's passionate, yet entirely unfaithful relationship with husband and famous muralist, Diego Rivera (Alfred Molina). |
