A long time ago in a land far away-the early '90s in South Central Los Angeles-a raucous, marginalized, graffiti-painting, marijuana-smoking, break-dancing youth movement was born, enjoyed an unprecedented commercial success without having to soften its rowdy image, and soon scattered its influence down south of the border like wildfire.

One of Guadalajara's most eclectic and persistently original galleries now offers artistic inspiration from as far away as China. Galeria Vertice's first collective of 2008 includes the "Terracotta Warriors of Xi'an," quality replicas of statues of eleven warriors and one horse that form part of one of China's greatest archaeological treasures.
