'An excellent way to blend art and palenthology, the "Paleontologia Fantastica II" exhibit presents more than 50 pieces by sculptor Alberto Meillon. Using different natural materials, Meillon creates fantastical animals with clear links to prehistoric species, accompanying each creation with explanatory, sometimes openly poetic texts. Whimsically named, cleverly put together and original, the sculptures are well-worth a visit. Museo de Paleontologia de Guadalajara (Av. Dr. R. Michel 520). 'Architects of Air, a British company specialising in visual participative art, is one of the many suprisingly sophisticated cutural options at this year's Zapopum festival. Their Luminarium installation is a monumental maze of more than 1,000 square meters in brilliant, free-flowing color.

'The Icelandic president was not the only one representing his country in Mexico this week: Sportacus, the slightly-above-average but super-healthy hero of the popular Icelandic children's show Lazytown, is visiting Walmarts in the country to promote the live Lazytown show in Mexico City and Guadalajara. Sportacus encourages children to eat "sports candy" (his word for fruits and vegetables), and head outside instead of just sitting indoors with video games or eating junk food. Tickets are available for shows from May 15 through 18 at Teatro Galerias. 'An audience of nearly 400 gathered at the Fray Antonio Alcalde auditorium this week to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the DIF Jalisco program, "Talleres Protegidos," that unites eight non-profit and governmental organizations that work with the disabled. Participants contributed dance, song, poetry and artwork to the festivities.
