As many as 135 burn victims under the age of 16 are expected to undergo clinical studies by U.S. doctors at the Nuevo Hospital Civil this weekend. Of those children, 45 will be chosen to continue their treatment in the Shriners Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Those not selected will continue their treatment at hospitals in Jalisco. The program, which is funded by the Shriners and the Michou and Mau Foundation, began in June 2000, when 44 Mexican children were selected for treatment at the specialist burns unit in Texas. |
