Maybe you've heard of it. It goes something like this: The United States has developed a reputation, rightly or wrongly, as a health-conscious society. There's a whole lot of talk about eating right, eating light, and working out at the gym. It's all about salad, aerobics, and good clean living. Meanwhile, generally speaking, the French smoke a lot, drink a lot of wine, and eat a lot of meat in heavy sauces. They are not tempted by aerobics. Yet the average French lifespan is slightly longer than the average American's, and their rate of heart disease is nearly 50 percent less. What gives? |

These people couldn't be more wrong. And they could not have possibly foreseen the meat-eating frenzy that occurred the other night at Bariloche, an upscale Argentinian restaurant in the tradition of the nation known for its grilled meat expertise. |

From June 22 to 29, Puebla will celebrate the dish that has made the city famous in kitchens throughout the world - mole. Cooks and restaurant owners will gather to duel over stoves and dining tables and determine whose mole is the best and closest to the original recipe. A jury of food critics and chefs will judge the culinary creations. |
