Better service for American citizens

We were sorry to hear about the difficulty one of Allyn Hunt’s acquaintances had with our new appointment system for U.S. passports, and disappointed that he drew on this experience to condemn the program as contributing to the “distancing” of the American community from U.S. Government services (May 10-16 “South of  North” column).

Canadian Consulate under the cosh

The Canadian media has savaged Canada’s Foreign Service representatives in Mexico, accusing them of dereliction of duty in the case of jailed citizen Brenda Martin, who spent more than two years in a Guadalajara prison before a verdict was reached this week (see top International story).
