Calderon So Far: Michoacan Military Operations, Harsh IMF Economics

President Felipe Calderon's core of advisors and Cabinet members promised a swift, effective start, and said 6,500 troops were going to Calderon's home turf, Michoacan, to "take back the state" from drug trafficking killers – officially responsible for 500 deaths this year.

It appears Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador yearns for – and perhaps envisions in the not-too-distant future – a parliamentary system in Mexico. So is his shadow cabinet, scheduled to "take office" on Revolution Day (November 20), a visionary act years ahead of its time? Or is it just more theatrics from a slumping, stigmatized loser?
