Jalisco's Supreme Court overturned the conviction of U.S. citizen Thomas White, serving a seven-year sentence in Puerto Vallarta for rape, sexual abuse, prostitution and corruption of minors.

'Photographing humpback whales in Vallarta has become hugely popular with tourists. Several firms offer special photo-shooting excursions; one even runs a photo competition.

Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for its whale watching season that begins this month and runs through the end of March. The main attraction is the Humpback whale, which migrates to the Bay of Banderas from California to mate and give birth during the winter months.
