CHAPALA - A sandbag barrier going up on the waterfront perimeter of Ajijic’s Parque de la Amistad marks the outline of what will eventually become the town’s new pedestrian promenade.

CHAPALA - Lake Chapala’s rainy season rise tapered off over the last two weeks, according to data recorded by the National Water Commission (Conagua) that showed a modest two-centimeter dip in elevation between October 4 and October 7.

Lakeside veterinarians report an increase in the number of sick puppies brought in by well-meaning but ill-advised owners who bought them from roadside vendors.

Chapala’s Citizen Protection Department responded to 19 reports of home and business burglaries and 11 attempted break-ins during the first three weeks of September, according to the daily logs released to the local press by Police Chief Luis Manuel Ibarra. 

Local police foiled a trio of sauced up Tapatio pranksters as they attempted to rip off the lighthouse fixture from the Chapala pier in the early hours of Tuesday, September 30.
